In January 2019, on behalf of Strabag Zrt., The implementation of the digestion and biogas utilization system started within the project entitled Development of the wastewater treatment plant of the city of Kaposvár with county status. 2 self-developed InwaFerm digesters using state-of-the-art solutions and a technology building located between them have been built on the sludge line. The biogas collected in the integrated gas storage facilities will reach the consumers through a biological desulphurisation unit and the Bioginwa gas treatment system, also designed in-house. The complete system is low power, extremely stable and easy to operate. The high gas extraction efficiency allows the largest possible part of the self-consumption of the wastewater treatment plant to be provided with electricity and heat from the produced biogas.

The new wastewater treatment line at the plant is currently in trial operation.
